Garden Plans > 2012: Gorham Orchard

About this Garden Plan

In a partnership between the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Service, the University of Southern Maine Facilities Dept, and the USM Environmental Science Department, fruit trees have been replanted on the site of a historic orchard on the Gorham campus of the University of Southern Maine. Rootstocks were planted April 2011, scions were grafted April 2012. Based on a photo from 1916 the trees (mostly apple with two pear) were planted on the hill behind Robie Andrews Hall. Please visit our orchard which we hope to turn into a living learning laboratory for students and community members alike to explore and enjoy.
